This painting I'm working on raises an important question: are immigrants really the problem? Many say this country was built by immigrants, and maybe that’s true. But what happened? Now, people claim immigrants “destroy neighborhoods.” So when did the narrative shift? At what point did immigrants go from building this country to being blamed for what's wrong with it?
Im still working on this one as of 8/15/2025
People grow up to become great actors, musicians, doctors even billionaires. But not everyone is that lucky. Many end up as missing posters on the streets of Guadalajara. A simple piece of paper, as if all they ever lived for was to become a poster with their face on it. No body to be found. Only memories and photographs remain, serving as a quiet reminder to the public: you could be next.
These highly abstracted portraits are meant to emphasize how little is known about those who go missing in Guadalajara. While real posters feature real people some of whom are never found, and some who are never even reported missing, these abstract portraits don’t depict specific individuals. Yet they carry the same haunting energy. No body. No background. Just another poster on the wall.
I am still working on this series as of 8/15/25.
